Best Proof of Living – Monday
You Are a Work in Progress
Most people think of themselves as they are. That often leads to judgement and an uneasy, dissatisfying complacency.
It’s much more practical, productive and purposeful to think about the person you’ve decided to become and the life with which you’ll reward yourself.
Today’s Proof of Living exercise is one of the most fun and enjoyable activities we’ve created. You’re going to spend some time looking at your life as if it’s under construction.
Not finished. Not fixed. Not permanent.
A work in progress.
Take some uninterrupted “you come first” time and answer the following questions as thoughtfully and honestly as you can.
Part One – Where Are You Right Now?
Describe your current life.
- What areas of your life are going especially well?
- Which areas feel stalled or neglected?
- What accomplishments are you most proud of?
- What disappointments are you still carrying?
- What habits are helping you?
- Which habits are quietly working against you?
- If someone knew nothing about you except how you spend your average week, what conclusions would they draw about your priorities?
- What have you been putting off?
- Where do you feel the greatest sense of momentum?
- Where do you feel the greatest reluctance?
Part Two – What Are You Building?
Now look ahead.
- What kind of person are you intentionally becoming?
- What qualities do you want people to use when they describe you five years from now?
- What experiences do you want to have?
- What skills do you want to master?
- What relationships deserve more attention?
- What would make you genuinely proud of yourself a year from today?
- What would your “future you” encourage you to begin doing now?
- If your life reflected your highest aspirations, what would be noticeably different?
Part Three – What Needs to Happen Next?
Dreams become reality through action.
Identify the next three meaningful actions that would move your life forward.
For each one, answer:
- Why is this important?
- What has been keeping me from doing it?
- What’s the very first step?
- When will I take that first step?
- How will I know I’ve made progress?
Don’t make a list of thirty things.
Choose the three that matter most.
Then complete at least one of them today.
Remember…
You are not a finished product.
You are a work in progress.
Build yourself with intention.
Aspire.
Exercise Your Freedom.
