I Do Declare

BEST Proof of Living™
This Week’s Challenge: Make an Announcement

“I do declare,” was a quaint expression, likely from rural America.  Turns out – another quaint phrase – declaring can be a ”powerful strong” idea.

Most people wait for life to happen and then talk about it.

This week, reverse the process.
Announce something.

Announce – confidently – something thst you are definitely going to do, a decision you have made or a step you are about to make.

Not because you’ve already done it.
Not because it’s guaranteed.
Not because everyone will applaud.

Announce it because you’ve decided.

Maybe you announce that you’re going to write a book.

Maybe you announce that you’re starting a walking program.

Maybe you announce that you’re going back to school, learning a language, rebuilding a relationship, launching a business, volunteering, creating art, losing weight, becoming more patient, or finally tackling something you’ve postponed for years.

The size of the announcement doesn’t matter.
The act of announcing does.

An announcement transforms a wish into an intention, a personal dedication and transformation of energy into action.

Announcing is equivalent to making a public declaration.  It is a powerful commitment that can propel to higher levels of aspiration, accountability and performance.

It gives shape to possibility.
It signals to yourself—and perhaps to others—that something new is underway.

You don’t need a microphone (although some of the most fun and energizing announcements I made as a manager were begun with “Hear ye, hear ye.”  Try it – it’s a big crowd-pleaser!

You don’t need a stage.
You don’t need a billboard, a social media campaign, or a plane pulling a banner across the sky.

You simply need to declare:
“This is what I’m doing.”

That’s your BEST Proof of Living™ this week.

Make an announcement.
Give yourself something worth announcing.

Then begin.  Oh, and have some fun, too.

Aspire.
