I love getting feedback from readers and listeners. It’s true – I enjoy the positive feedback more than the negative, but, in fairness, I learn from both.
My most recent The No Cry Zone podcast episode was titled The Subtle Saboteur.
It was about reluctance.
After all, UnReluctant Day – June 30th – is almost here, so I naturally focused on the subject.
And yes, I probably made two or three… dozen… valid points about it.
On this topic, I know what I’m talking about.
So I got pretty emphatic. I leaned into it.
That was exactly the feedback I received.
“Wow, you were really geared up in your podcast this week.”
Another friend said,
“I haven’t heard you that excited in a long time.”
They were right.
It’s an important topic to me. That’s why I started UnReluctant Day as part of our Personal Development Cycle.
It’s why we created The ReluctAntZ – those funny little characters that illustrate the many ways we disguise our reluctance.
But here’s what has happened since.
I’ve heard from people who value the work we’re doing against reluctance… against hesitation… against unnecessary delay… against postponing life.
They’ve said things like:
“I had no idea how many things I’d become reluctant to do.”
“I couldn’t believe how much reluctance had taken over my life.”
“You’re right – it really is the Subtle Saboteur. It kept me stuck in my career by whispering things like, ‘The cream always rises,’ and ‘Good things come to those who wait.’”
And one that everyone hopes to receive:
“I took your advice. I became less reluctant… and it changed my life.”
I love hearing those things.
They bring me great joy.
They keep me energized, encouraged, and – perhaps surprisingly – even more committed.
Why?
Because reluctance never stops.
It never fades.
It never retreats.
It keeps coming back.
It is woven into our language, our customs, our norms, and even our rules.
It is so deeply embedded in society, education, and relationships that none of us will ever be completely free of it.
Not you.
Not me.
Reluctance is relentless.
Our response must be relentless, too.
We renounce it.
We reject it.
We repel it.
Today.
Then again tomorrow.
And the day after that.
That’s why I was so emphatic in The Subtle Saboteur.
I hope you’ll give it a listen in The No Cry Zone.
And let me know what it does for you.
Aspire.
Be Less Reluctant.
